First ever D&D TV ad!?

D&D had both TV (IIRC) and radio spots back in its heyday in the '80s.

Morley the wizard and all.
Excellent! I'm pretty sure they never had those over here. Do tell more, especially about the TV ad. ;)

Also, do you (or anyone else) remember the Magic: The Gathering TV ads? I definitely saw those on a WotC promo CD/DVD and maybe on TV too.

Yeah, I remember the MtG ads... they were all right, kinda funny, very tongue-in-geek, if ya know what I mean...

How you been keepin mate!? Not too busy I hope? I trust the family is all keeping well!? :)
Very busy. It's 9pm on a Saturday and I should be working :( instead of posting on the boards. :p
Otherwise everyone is OK, thanks. How are you and your dad?

What channel/time was the advert on?
ITV, Saturday, around 8 - 8.30am during the kids' cartoons. I suspect if you tape the kids' programmes on ITV, you'll eventually catch it. If you miss it, don't worry. I've got it on video (I put it on the same tape as "Orcadia") so you can see it the next time you're in town. Are you coming for Dragonmeet?

Look forward to it, D&D on tv...you have to laugh. :)

Unfortunately with the book still not on sale I am hamstrung financially. Looks like the earliest I will be over is 2004 unfortunately. Which is doubly annoying since there will be no Gencon this year in London. :(

If I plan any trips over I will let you know well in advance.

Take care mate! :)

There was indeed a TV ad for DnD way back when. It was mixed in with ads for the short lived Indiana Jones PnP game IIRC. Terribly cheesy by even the standards then.

I distinctly recall flaming (?) spears or arrows falling into the 'ground', and images of the books/boxes; and allegations of coolness by overpaid Madison Avenue admen.

TSR0800 Fantasy Forest Game 1982
A Child's First Adventure - A Family Game
A Mystical Journey through Morley The Wizard's Magical Fantasy Forest

a group of kids sit around a table (last supper style) with an older guy with beard in the middle

they had about 3 or so years ago the audio download available from the radio spot on some website. maybe if you do a google search...it was in real player audio.

Has anyone heard anything else about this DnD Board Game? The website does not have a link for america for purchase and I cannot find anything on it at the WotC site. I would like to get this for my son (a big heroquest fan) for X-Mas, any info is appreciated.
