I'm only doing it because driving people wacko is more fun the second time around.... ;)

You had me worried for a second there, Dad. I thought you'd started working for the other side!

I wouldn't have too much of a problem with modern Call of Cthulhu. It just would be much more X-files and much less traditional HPL-esque stuff.

Maybe, but for Lovecraft himself, the 1920s/30s were contemporary modern day. There is an immediacy about his work that makes it feel like he is writing about things as they happen. The scary part was that all these long-dead "gods" had been gone millions of years, but were coming back - right now. If he was alive today, he'd set his stories in the 21st century. So, that's why I like modern CoC.

What sort of monsters does the book hold? Any templates for possessed cultists?
I intend to buy the book, to rip off stuff for use in my own campaigns.

I used to have a friend that worked at a mental institution as an orderly. One day a patient came in who was a little disturbed, he thought the writings of Lovecraft were real. I guess this patient was really wild and out of control (Biting, kicking nads, scratching and general mayhem). My friend was a huge HPL fan like me, so he would start talking to this patient quoting HPL. Stuff like IA IA Shub Nigurrath ......and the Abdul Al Hazred quotes. This guy would suddenly get very quiet and be totally freaked out by my friend. A little cruel yes, but this guy probably wasn't going to get better......

And this would probably be the attitude of psychoanalysts in the game. Basically this is all a fantasy that grew from weird fiction and a stressed mind.

If the doctor fails the check by a lot, should he (the doctor) lose SAN? From exposure?

Excellent. I'd say that on a natural roll of 1, the doctor has to make a SAN check or lose 1d3 san. Just to keep things fun.

The doctors at Arkham asylum get a little funny after awhile...they start to believe their patients are right.

On a related note, the next version of "Delta Green" from Pagan Publishing will have dual d20/BRP stats. For those of you who aren't familiar with DG, it's a very well-received Cthulhu supplement written by John Tynes and others.

AFAIK, it is currently out of print, but it should be back on shelves (with new d20 stats) by this summer.

I am not sure what all creatures were from the dreamlands, but other than a few of them, there doesn't seem to be much information on the dreamlands.
