Well, next bid has to be $255.01 or higher, so the "step up" right now is $5. I think that means that hellsreach either knows diaglo's habits, had insider info, or just plain out lucky bid 1 penny more than diaglo maxxed it at.

Many eBayists always use odd dollar fractions for their max bids on the theory that it's more likely to beat the most common even dollar bids without having to bid up too much more. $0.01 is kind of doofy, though obviously it "worked" (inasmuch as having to pay your max bid + $0.01 is working). I usually use some random digits myself.

I wonder if Gary can authenticate it. Looks like a real signature but the writing doesn't appear to be in the same hand. I'm sure that he would remember signing the first book that ever sold and what he wrote in it.

The thing that gets me on this is that there is still 5 days left in the auction....
As an experienced Ebay sniper, I can attest that it is useless to place a bid on an item that you want before the 5 minute mark on an auction. Most times even that is far too much of a window.
