First thoughts on Superman Returns

It is a bit long, and the scene where Luthor and his flunkies kick the snot out of Superman is a bit brutal, but otherwise, yes. As for length and lots of kicking in that scene, that depends on what he's used to. Perry is six and he loved the film, but I did think the kicking and beating scene was a little on the intense side - it made me cringe a few times. It is well over two hours long, also.

Other than those two issues, it is appropriate. You could always take him to the bathroom during the beating scene.

I had wondered that as well. The more I think about it though the more I begin to suspect that we're not being told the Lane's "dirty little secret". Why keep something like that secret though from the audience? *shrugs* More than likely it isn't there, but the film doesn't belong to Singer it belongs to us now :)

And I LOVED the Spiderman III preview!

Waitaminutenow... Where'd you go see it at? I'm feeling a little ripped off. I've seen the teaser online, but not in the theatre. I saw Superman on Wednesday night.... :(

On the other hand, I watched Cars last night and it was totally excellent!

Did you get to see the preview for the movie about George Reeves with Ben Affleck in it? What'd you think of that?

Theatre 1 in Columbus. It was one of the longer previews that night.

I really enjoyed "Cars." I thought that was a good movie. Kids loved it, too.

No. I did not get to see that preview. I read about the movie in an article about George Reeves, but I have not seen any previews. The concern with that movie is that it will play up the lurid aspects of the end of his life, but leave out all the charities and good parts of what he did for people.

Yeah, he has enough fodder for a sequal, but I wonder if what Singer thinks is "interesting" about his story will just be tedious for me.

And Superman has Lois Lane and Jimmy Olsen (which reminds me of another point I will get to later.) For almost 70 years, Superman has had a relationship with Lois Lane, intrepid reporter. After about 50 years of comic book history, he got married to Lois and now she is in on the secret, but still, she is an important part of his life. And this relationship has worked! It has stood the test of time. Now, I guess not. What does that leave Superman to do for human contact in the next film, if the great love of his life is taken by someone else? Why mess with this vital piece of Superman lore?

I have to agree here. I guess Clark can see if Lana Lang is available.

I saw it in the same theatre. :( Well, it sounds like we got to see the George Reeves preview and you got to see the Spider-Man 3 preview. Ya lucky dog. ;)
