Five Nations thread (merged)

I've been damn impressed with Five Nations so far - I like that it went to route of mostly fluff, and it gives a ton of stuff to work with.

I have to also say it is nice to have civil conversations about it here - over on the Wizards Eberron boards, there's an extended rant-fest over how a single paragraph in the Aundaire section ruins the entire spirit of the setting for a number of people, and they wish the authors woudl just listen to them, because they must be right.

So, good show for being civil, ENWorld. :)

Wow. The Aundair section is, IMHO the best one...unless its Karrnath...or Thrane...or even Cyre.

Actually, its Breland.

Gah, what do I know? I love the book. I finally finished it last night.

One of the theories created (this one by Keith Baker himself, in the Warforged dragonshard, Part I) is that the LoBster could be Aaren D'Cannith, the artificer that crafted the first truly sentient warforged.

So the theories (so far) are:

- He's the first warforged created by House Cannith;
- He's the last warforged created by House Cannith;
- He's Aaren D'Cannith, either wearing armor or mind-trasnferred into a warforged body;
- He's Bulwark, the trusted warforged servant of King Boranel that convinced the King to include the warforged rights into the Treaty of Thronehold;
- He's the ruler of Latve... oops, sorry, wrong guy! :D

Do each of the prestige classes follow the new standard of having a decent amount of information about their position in the setting?

Don't forget the new LoBster theory: He's one of Cannith's Warforged Trainers...and the warforged he trained show a higher of degree of individuality than other warforged.

I have to say, I'm impressed with this book. It is more of a GM book than a player book, but what a GM book. Every chapter has locations, monsters and plot hooks galore. All the NPCs have interaction notes, and ways to use them as both allies and adversaries. The Kings/Queens have diplomacy modifiers and results listed out in the event you actually get to meet them. There are secret and public organizations the PCs can work for with info on how to join them, how to track what they think of the PC, and the resources and missions they will provide based on that opinion.

And the PrCs are cool if at the high end of the powercurve. Silverflame Pyromancer in particular. He gets the Paladin spell list added to his own. So much for Arcane casters not getting healing. I particularly like the Cyran Avengers investigative technique. He gets Discern Lies and Speak with Dead. *snicker* No Modus Operandi to be implied I'm sure.

Tell me about it, sheesh. I'm pretty uptight about canon, but geez. If only the Ask Keith Baker Thread was here, I wouldn't have to visit...

Yeah, I mentioned it (up in post #56) then forgot to add it to this list.

I suck.

:)
