Five Nations thread (merged)

I doubt there will be (much) discussion of Stormreach in books. From what I read in the D&D Online message boards, the D&D Online people were told that they were given Stormreach as a base of operations for their game along with most of Xendrik(sp?) due to the fact that WotC didn't have much plans for the continent.

The designers of DDO were told they could make up almost whatever they wanted for Stormreach and the continent as they would be the primary "canon" provider of information for the area.

I wouldn't be suprised if a tie-in product detailing Stormreach is released in the future though. Even if it's just a Dragon or Dungeon article.

What is the Bone Knight's role? Is it leading the Karrnathi undead? It doesn't really seem to fit with the idea of undead troops being segregated from the living.

Low-level bone knights provide additional control over the mindless undead, augmenting the necromancer and Blood-of-Vol cleric commanders. High level Bone Knights are commanders themselves, providing tactical support and a greater degree of control over the undead. They are among the few living who fight alongside the undead. Most Karrnathi are segregated.

So which stats/origin story has the Lord of Blades this time? :D
Well, there's a NEW theory on the Lord of Blades in the latest Dragonshard (Warforged Part II), saying that Cannith sometimes used warforged instructor to train recently-forged warforged in their basic skills (one tireless construct to train another). These construct-trained warforged often exhibited more independent behaviour than human-trained 'forged.

Some people say that the LoBster was one of these warforged instructors.

Hopefully there'll never be a definitive answer about the Lord of Blades. ;)

That's just some of the charm, the mystery surrounding the enigmatic figure.

Possibly, the Lord of Blades would put out contradictory tales to make it harder for people to track his history or gain some advantage in knowing his past. It can also create an aura of mystery, that may make him seem even more intimidating. Also, many real world leaders have been known to "rewrite" their personal history. So, I suspect that this may be the case in Eberron.

Not directly related to Five Nations, but I think a great twist for the Lord of Blades would be if he wasn't a 'Forged at all, but some other creature disguising himself as one to prey upon the disenfranchisement of the warforged community.

Alternately, he might be one of the "original" giant-made warforged, tens of thousands of years old and experienced to match. A being who saw the original war with Dal Quor... and has recently come into the public eye after countless millennia in the shadows. Could it be that the Lord of Blades seeks power to repel a new Quori invasion?

I've kind of liked the idea that the Lord of Blades isn't necessarily just one person, but a position, the secret being that if he's ever dispatched, someone else then fills in the role covertly. Thus, no matter how many times you defeat him, he just seems to come back from the dead...
