Five Nations thread (merged)

You know, PrCs are normally the last thing I look at in a book. While I don't believe WotC should stop making them, it takes a lot for me to incorporate any more into my own games.

But I'm very impressed with the PrCs in this book. Even the worst of them are decent, and the best are seriously cool in terms of thematic imagery and mechanics both. The knight phantom and the bone knight will likely see use in my own games, even though I'm not (currently) running Eberron.

What kinds/how many maps are there, and how detailed?

There are also maps of each country's capitol: Fairhaven, Wroat, Metrol, Korth, and Flamekeep. Each map has a few major sites numbered, and they are about the same level of detail as the maps in the Sharn book.

Question: How the heck do you pronounce "Wroat"??? "Rote" (one syllable, long o) or "ROW-at" (two syllables)?

I pronounce it "Rote." I wouldn't be suprised if it the proper answer is something like "ROW-at" if you are from the North, "Rote" if you are from Sharn, "WIR-oat" if you are from the south but not near Sharn.

I can't wait to get my hands on that book! I need more information on those countries. What does the madborn template do? Is it planar in origin something like the half-farspawn template and the pseudonatural template?

It's like a psionic zombie created by the Madstone. It gains a rage ability and some psionic powers. It gives the Power Attack feat, and forces the creature to use it at the highest exchange it can. Basically, it attacks on sight, and doesn't let up.

5 Nations, along with the Eberron DM screen and Weapons of Legacy were at my FLGS today, though I ended up buying the Hall of Many Panes, since that was my goal.

I flipped through it and it has some interesting stuff. The Bone Knight has feature that makes ex-paladins a good choice.

The 5 things every member of the nations knows is cool.

The Lord of Blades has 2 little advanced homunculi buddies.

There is a reminder and clarification of what types of healing work in the Mournlands. Cure wound spells, no, Goodberry, yes. As well as lay on hands and other class features.

There are a few new spells, 3 I think, for the Silver Flame. And I remember no magic items unless you count goodberry wine.

What sort of cool mechanics are we talking?

And while we are at it, my usual question: What are the coolest things that you think are in the book?

Two are Silver Flame specific. One is Silver Flame themed but not specific.

Whispering Flame allows you to create two candles where you can whisper into the flames of one and the answer can be heard through the flames of the other. The biggest clue that it isn't Silver Flame specific is that it is also a Druid spell ;)
