Fixing the Fighter

Well... the title might be misleading, but i've had a bit of trouble catching people's attention, so I thought I'd try something new...

Anywho, why you're here, why not check out the following psionic items?

Gemstone Eye
------------
Similar in basic appearance to an eye-patch, except the portion that would normally cover the eye socket is relplaced with a precious gemstone (ie. Ruby, Emerald, Topaz, Amythyst, Saphire, Rose Quartz, Clear Quartz, Garnet, or even Diamond) and the majority of the band is crafted of metal that, like most magic items, shapes to the head of the wearer, creating a snug fit. The wearer of a Gemstone Eye does not have his vision impeded. He can see through the gemstone perfectly well, though is eye may be concealed by the stone. His vision is tainted by the color of the gem, though (so a Ruby gemstone eye will cause him to see everything as very red). The Eye itself is charged with psionic power. The Eye empowers the wearer with the ability to use any thrown weapon (and only for throwing) as if he had proficiency. If he already has proficiency, then he instead gains a +2 competency bonus to attack rolls and a +1 competency bonus to damage rolls with the weapon. The bonus to damage only applies if the target is within 30ft. The Eye takes up the "Eye Lenses or Goggles" magic Item slot. (Based on Bracers of Archery)
Manifester Level: 4th; Prerequisites: Craft Universal Item, Craft Psionic Arms and Armor; Market Price: 5,100 gp; Weight: -lb.

Greater Gemstone Eye
--------------------
Appears exactly the same as a normal Gemstone Eye, but when examined closely, it is found to be of superior craftsmanship. Functions like a Gemstone Eye, plus the wearer can see as if under the effects of a True Seeing power at all times.
Manifester Level: 10th; Prerequisites: Craft Universal Item, Craft Psionic Arms and Armor, "True Seeing"; Market Price: ???? gp (5,100 + [unlimited use True Seeing x 1.1]); Weight: -lb.

My original intention was an item that would be very useful for the psionic assassin (namely the SoulKnife). I feel that although the first one listed is the more accurate (and probably more balanced) of the two, the second (which is still unpriced) is closer to what I imagined this item to be. And anyways, who doesn't want their kick-ass SoulKnife to look even cooler?

What the heck does an eye-patch have to do with throwing stuff?!?! That's my biggest problem with DnD: the superhigh magic levels! everyone just thinks they can make any old item that does any old thing.

I suggest completely changing the eye in almost every manner other than appearance. The eye produces a ray (ranged touch attack), varying with color, and costs 3 power points to project (making it only useful to psionic characters).

Gemstone....Ray
diamond.......3d6 cold damage
ruby..............3d6 fire damage
emerald........2d4 Acid damage and 1d6 temp con
amber...........3d6 electrical damage

Or you could just make it a cool-looking Third Eye

By the way, that eye-catcher title is a dirty trick, but at least it works;)

Attention grabbers: use of any or all of the following words in the title of your post... "broken", "got the shaft", any form of a shaft in something.

I suspect that the appearance is meant to echo cyberpunk-like assisted-targeting systems, hence the bonus to throwing.

*sigh*

I have to say I was disappointed to find that the name of this thread was just a charade. There's far too few threads tackling the dicey subject of fighter castration.
