Flail Expertise and Power Strike feat support in MME

No game stores in or around Los Angeles? No internet connection to purchase from a gamestore with an online presence? I find these things hard to believe...

Oh wait. You're trolling. Well played, sir.

Oh, don't be too surprised. There are plenty of places you can't buy a book in an FLGS. For instance there is a perfectly good one here, except for the fact that the owner is a major H4TER, no MME for us...

Frankly I don't think WotC can really keep it offline for long. Seems to me they are foolish to try. Either they deny availability of a book with significant core rules to lots of players, or it ends up online anyway and they've put one over on retailers. It simply cannot end well.

....

Wait...

The MME is going to have feats...? For items not introduced in the book...?
I suppose it doesn't matter in the age of DDI, but it does seem strange. Kinda like how Heroes of Shadow had Ki Focus Expertise and a ki focus-using class that couldn't make proper use of it.

If I were a betting man, I'd wager Flail Expertise will toss a slide (or increase slides by) 1 on flail attacks. Polearm Expertise will probably have some defensive benefit. Not sure about Pick Expertise. Extra damage on charge/combat advantage/bloodied has already been done, but pick seems to scream bonus damage to me.

The two closest hobby stores to me, according to the WotC website, are about 45 minutes travel each way in LA traffic. One of them makes a point on their website of proudly stating they do not sell online. The other's website, as listed by WotC, doesn't exist. Los Angeles, major metropolitan area though it is, does not burst with FLGS every two blocks.

The point of the LGS only policy is to get people into the stores. If I make a single online purchase from some random far away non-L GS, then go right back to ordering off Amazon like I usually do, that's not really going to help a store stay in business or drive me to other things they offer. It's just a pain in the butt for me.

I've been online since 1996, and I'm pretty sure this is the first time I've been called a troll.

The stores being 45 minutes away /= "if only I had somewhere to purchase it...."

Annoying to make a special trip to, yes, and I can understand how you might not want to drive out there just for one book. But that doesn't make it impossible to get to.

It still amounts to WotC making the book a pain in the butt to purchase. I usually buy all non-adventure books, even though I subscribe to DDI, but with MME I'll probably just use DDI.

There's helping brick and mortar stores out (Encounters and other programs), and then there's making things difficult for your customers (not listing the book on Amazon).

Harken back to 3e, extra damage on a crit?

That already exists in 4e as the high crit property, which all three picks already have. Psuedo-Brutal on a crit I could see, but I'm not sure how helpful that would be. Targeting another defense is out (that's a paragon-tier martial feat, and for picks it happens to be Fortitude). Maybe instead of more damage it would be something like a -1/tier AC penalty until the end of their next turn when you hit a target with a weapon attack using a pick? I don't k now.

Does anyone use a pick anyway?
