Arrows can be enchanted, but they're separate from the bow. The major quirk is that only the arrow's enchantment allows penetration of DR.

That's a 3E rule; in 3.5, the enhancement bonus from bow or arrow will bypass DR X/magic.

Yeah.

Firstly, it says "This energy does not harm the wielder", not "does not harm the wielder or his equipment.

Secondly, it says "This energy does not harm the wielder". Once you sheathe a weapon, you're not wielding it any more...
