4 Demons stand 30' in front of you, one of them in combat with the Bard.

Alright time to bust out the big gun!

I will launch a fireball that encompasses the book, and gets as many of the enemies as I can without hitting the party.

DC 15 reflex
damage: 26 fire

Bargle (who has been watching you intently as a potential rival) casts counterspell, using a 4th level spell slot, just to be certain. You watch in horror as your spell fizzles, sputters and dies before leaving your fingertips.

He smiles 'Fireball? Hah... a spell my grandmother knows!'

Anything else you want to do before the Demons turn?

Ah yes, once again proving why as both dm and player I think that spell should be eradicated from existence!!

if possible I’ll move 30 feet back to try and get out of range of the next one.

Oh and alert the party, destroy the book it fuels their power!

You curse, and back off towards the stairwell, calling out to the party the above.

You can only really back off 20', back onto the foot of the staircase that led down.

Next is the Demons.

Two will attack the Bard. AC 19
One will advance and attack the front liner (the Fighter) AC 18
One will advance and attack the Rogue. AC 16

Wanna roll the attacks? They're at +4 and deal 2d8+2 piercing.

Demon 1: 19 + 4 = 23, hit, 10 damage on bard
Demon 2: 2 + 4 = 6, miss
Demon 3: 14 + 4 = 18, 12 dmg on fighter
Demon 4: 8+4 = 12, miss

Next goes the Cleric.

Knowing Bargle is out of reactions, he drops a Spirit Guardians using his 4th level slot and advances to cover the two demons on the Bard.

Next comes Bargle.

He weaves together the strands of potent magic and casts... chain lightning, centred on the Fighter and hitting everyone other than the Bard!

Dex save time - Fighter and Cleric are at -1. Rogue is at +7.

You can make saves for those 3 and yourself, and roll the damage as well

Fighter: 12 - 1 = 11
Cleric: 4 - 1 = 3
Rogue: 19 + 7 = 26
Vizardo: 11 + 1 = 12

damage: 57 (bleh!!)

Fighter: 12 - 1 = 11
He expends the use of Bardic Inspiration granted to him earlier.... and rolls a 5... success! He takes 27 damage.
Cleric: 4 - 1 = 3
Uses his artificer initiate slot to cast absorb elements, taking 27 damage.

He also narrowly passes his Concentration save (DC 13).
Rogue: 19 + 7 = 26
Thanks to evasion, he takes no damage.
Vizardo: 11 + 1 = 12

damage: 57 (bleh!!)
Dropping you to 2 HP! Bleh indeed.

It's now the Fighters turn.

He toggles GWM on, and swings at the Demon fighting him, rolling a 15 and hitting. He deals 24 damage. He toggles it off, hoping this thing is weak enough to kill without it, and swings again, rolling a 14 and hitting again for 10 more damage killing the Demon.

He then moves 10' forward towards the one fighting the Rogue, and uses his bonus action from GWM to swing again with GWM on, rolling a 9. He expends a superiority die for a use of Precise strike and rolls a 13, hitting! Damage is 20 points.

He then action surges.

He swings again, without GWM, and hits with a 14 again, expending his last superiority dice on Maneuvering attack (targeting the Bard) yelling out 'Like Vizardo said, GET THE BOOK!'. Damage is 13 points, and the second Maw demon also goes down, and the Bard moves 15' towards Bargle and the Book.

The Fighter then moves a further 20' forwards, engaging the two that were formerly engaged with the Bard, stepping into his spot, and makes his fifth and final attack, rolling a natural 1 and missing (all good thigs must end).

It's now Bargles legendary action; he'll target the Bard with a Firebolt screaming 'stay away from my book'.

You can roll his attack if you want.
