Yes, the first book is an extremely legit serious cookbook, with good practical recipes. The flavor is well integrated and a lot of fun, but honestly I would recommend it for the food part alone.

I've made a bunch of the recipes from the first book. Looking forward to trying out Flavors of the Multiverse. Tonight I'm going to give Shrimp Tarsis a try. Though, I got a chuckle out of the original recipe in Leaves from the Inn of the Last Home, which did not in fact contain shrimp (the joke being that Tarsis had gone from a port to landlocked as a result of the Cataclysm).

They're also great coffee table books. The photography is incredible.

I made the Harengon Coffee Carrots and Kender Stumblenoodles. The carrots were really delicious. I liked the Stumblenoodles, but thought it could do with adding some diced tomatoes to it.
