Floating ability bonuses?

I keep the racial bonuses as they are, and then give every PC a +2 "heroic bonus" to any one stat -- but it doesn't stack with the racial bonus.

Then, I give out fewer points in the point-buy (20 points instead of 22). This creates characters slightly more powerful than usual, but the extra points tend to wind up in secondary stats (so the net game effect is +1 to a defense and a few skills).

Interesting - so you always get +2 in your primary attack stat, but you can be whatever race you want mostly. Some are still more optimal than others in terms of secondary stat, but not to nearly the same degree.
