Fluid guys, are you out there?

Patience, friend :) I last heard from Scott on Wed of last week, and from Eric (from Fluid) late Thursday. So they're out there. I too am eagerly awaiting the relaunch of their boards and the first patch...

Yeah I know, and thanks. I continue reading here and WOTC boards (and now msn, to many boards) and answering problems when I can. Seeing the negative posts over and over and waiting to see some life at fluid again has been testing my resolve. But I will continue to hope for some positive info from them(fluid) soon.

You know that little prayer you sometimes see on knick-knacks...

God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,

the courage to change the things I can,

and the wisdom to know the difference.

That's what I'm trying to do, and what a lot of us are trying to do. I can't go back into the past and make things change. I can't be in California standing over Eric's shoulder and making him type faster. :) I can't do anything to get Fluid's forums up and running right now. And I just have to accept those things.

There are things, of course, that we can do. We can help people with bugs that aren't actually bugs, with instructions, with creating downloads, that sort of thing. I think that's a productive use of time, it builds community spirit, and it helps us learn (every time I build a monster or a race I learn something new).

Some may think that I lack the wisdom to know the difference between what I can change and what I can't. Heck, maybe ranting about "where's the patch" will in fact get the patch out faster, who am I to say? But to me, based on past experience and observation, it just doesn't seem like that tactic will work.

Well said.
I will just point out that I never mentioned the patch. Just looking for the support pages again. So for sure I dont want to be included in the "ranter" file. I know you didnt imply I was ranting, but since you mentioned patch ranters I just wanted sure I wasnt mistaken for one. :)

The constant whining/trolling/ranting/flaming has gotten on my nerves too. I've taken up completely ignoring non-productive threads. I don't see any point in wasting my breath explaining things to people aren't going to listen anyway.

By the same token, I've tried to answer anything I knew the answer to on threads where it's not just meanness but an honest desire to know how to do something, or an honest need for something that hasn't been done yet.

Darnit, that reminded me I said I'd take a stab at the favored enemy/alt.ranger issues. Not that I think I'm smarter or anything, just maybe I'll find something someone else didn't. ;)

My profuse thanks to everyone who's asking intelligent and polite questions, and even more thanks to everyone that's making an effort to answer them, or come up with workarounds, or new import/rac/mon/etc. files! Go pat yourselves on the back!

Serenity Prayer. :)

That little beauty is the saving grace for my sanity right now.

Am glad to see it being quoted from a fellow gamer.

Personally, I think Fluid should have had -some- idea on the traffic that would have been generated by their product. Let's face it, they sent X copies of the software out, and if they are gamers in any respect, they should be moderately aware of how large the userbase is of gamers on the net.

However, I have given them the benefit of the doubt, and am reserving true judgement of the issue until I see what their solution is, so long as it is within a feasible and within an acceptible(by me at least, since these are personal views obviously) time frame.

If a month goes by and nothing has surfaced, I think I would have a right to be angry.. As it stands, just be patient and watch and wait. This is a learning process for everyone involved, and probably a great lesson to someone(s) somewhere.

Sanity.. LOL

Just reread my post, and wanted to clarify: My sanity in my personal life, not my sanity in regards to anything involving fluid or E-Tools... If I were to lose my sanity over a game, I think I would deserve my plight. :)
