Flying (at 90) into a wall?

Vexed

First Post
Ok, we had a situation where a character flew around a corner at 90' into a wall. We are trying to figure out the damage. Do you move faster when you drop Vs. when you fly? When you fly you are moving at a constant speed (15 feet a second) vs. when you fall, you are accelerating. How much damage should he have taken?

If you guys figured out his flying speed correctly (If he has a flying move of 90', the most he can move in a round is 180, for a speed of 30fps, not 15 - so the issue here is what else he did in that round.), then any damage he should suffer is really pretty negligible. Even after reaching 32fps, you'll have only fallen for one second, and covered only 16 feet, for 2d6 falling damage, and 15 fps is about how fast you'd be going after free-falling a whopping 4'... So even with a penalty of some sort for going into it face-first, the damage should be very low.

Don't forget the -2 embarrasment penalty to charisma based skill checks and charisma checks when interacting with anyone that saw him. (That's why bats only fly at night - they don't want anyone see them hitting the walls all the time). :D
