Fool's Grove: The Gnome's Back (With Friends)

Not to derail this with an overly serious comment, but I think they did a really good job making the gnome interesting, something you can fight, and something you can't actually kill. Because it would kind of suck if the players murdered the gnome.

Let me counter this with an overly frivolous comment. ;)

Naughty WotC! Railroading is badwrongfun! You have ruined 4E 4Ever!!14!$onefour!!

I'm entirely too amused by this typo in Quick Escape:

Francis triples his speed in all movement modes, can burrow through anything, and can drag the Gome with him.

Sounds like a lame 80s TV show.

"One's a hardboiled badger who's a little too aerodynamic, the other's an overeager third-stringer who's just been promoted to Monster. Francis & the Gome, Thursdays at 7."

Pure win. I've only skimmed it so far (and mostly the stat blocks), but holy crap I actually want to run it!

Great job Logan and Chris!

(I happened to skim through my AD&D MM and FF for the first time in years just the other day, and glancee at several of these monsters thinking "what were they thinking?". (I'm lookin' at you, carbunkle!.) Logan and Chris did a great job making these monsters much more useful--even in this goofy state--than the originals, while remaining true to the original concepts.)

Does anyone recognize the sources of those biographies? They look like they're paraphrased from actual adventures.

From original monster descriptions, actually. The one with the hypnotic tunnels is the morkoth, if I'm remembering the name correctly, from the AD&D MM. A DCS illustration of some squidlike creature with radiating lines all around it.

(As I mentioned, I just happened to skim through my old 1E hardcovers recently . . . .)

And now it is time to kill our players with flumphs again! Also, Francis is adorable, I love the concept of the minion that just doesn't die (I think it could actually make a credible mechanic for some undead).
