Forced teleport question - dropping the target

In the 2nd part of your post you specify you are already flying on the mount. The mount is the target of the teleport. Unless the teleport is going to place the flying mount in danger it doesnt get a save vs the teleport. The rider just happens to be unfortunate enough to have just lost his mount.

As a general rule, I think the game is better for everyone if you can only teleport to somewhere you can actually get to, similar to forced movement. No teleporting enemies into the air at all or through a pinhole into a metal box or prison - nor under a layer of ice into water, etc.

Rearranging the battlefield = Great!
Save or die, or _not_ save and still effectively die? = Poor

So if the rider is allowed a save, no comment on cancel teleport vs. tag along rider?

Why would the rider be allowed to save? He is not the target of the teleport, and if the teleport doesnt teleport the steed to danger even it doesnt get a save. No one said your supposed to fly the skies without danger. If you want to be a mounted ranged PC you have to face the fact that if something removes your mount via teleport or killing it, your gonna fall.

You really shouldn't be out of cleric range of the ground, since ranged PCs are either strikers or controllers. If you are hurt bad, you want the healer to be able to slap something on you without waiting for your turn to come up... and then his turn to come around again. Coincidentally, this also limits your falling damage.

By paragon you can pick up the slow fall feat and take agile athlete or something and you're good.
