Forgoten Reams ECL+1 races

First Post
OK I was looking over the Genasi Races and saw that the Tiefling and Aasimar are quit a bit better then the Genasi yet they are all ECL +1

Is there a Errata on them?

THe Aasimar get +2 Wis, +2 Chr with no negitives to stats plus Elemental resistanc of 5 for 3 elements.

The Genasi get one to two stats at +2 AND a equal amout at -2 with no elemental resistance. Instead they get +1 save vercese there element for every 5 character lvl.

The Tiefling gets Drakness once a day at there character lvl as a sorcoror yet the Genasi get there spells once a day at sorcoror lvl 5 and most of the "spells" are little nothing spells.
Passwithout a Trace for Earth, Control Fire for five minutes for Fire, Levitate for Air and Create water for Water.

Whats up with this?

I looked on the WotC page for a errata and there is nothing about the race other than a few word changes.

Also they have the Drow as ECL +2 and I could sware they are ECL +3

Anyoine klnow of a correction?

All +ECL races are not created equal. While a Genasi may not be quite as powerful as a Tiefling or a Drow, it is certainly MORE powerful than a Dwarf, Elf, or human. ECL races are in a certain RANGE of power. They are roughly equivalent, but not exactly so. Personally, I think wizards did a pretty good job balancing them out, but there are some that are really painful. For example, take the Aarakocra from Races of Faerun. It's a +2 ECL race... but it has such massive drawbacks that it BARELY qualifies it as a +2. When compared to other +2 ECL races, it is clearly inferior, but when you compare it to +1 ECL races, it is obviously a whole power level above them. Thus, while it hurts to have a race that pales in comparison to other +2... it fits there better.

Such is the case with MANY of the +ECL races. None of them are exactly equal though, so don't expect them to be.

Sooo why didnt they give the Genasi the same stat bonus as the Tiefling? I would have also given them elementaol resistance of 15 for there element instread of the +1 to saves.

Seems to me that they did a poor job thinking it though.

If you think the Genasi is under powered copaired to the other planetouched check out how under powered they are comparied to Half-Ogers (form SS) or the Mechanatrix (from FF) both +1 ECL.

Mechanatrix
Medium
Dex -2 Con +2 Int +2 Cha -2
Speed 20ft
+1 Natural Armor
Shocking Grasp 1/d as sorc as character lv
Cold R 5 Fire R 5
Electricity Healing- electricity heals 1 hp per 3 damage it would otherwise deal: no save throw vs electrical effects
Outside Traits
Skills +2 Spot + 4 Knowledge (Architecture and Engineering)
LA +1

Not every race can be Human or Dwarf some have to be Half-Elves.
