D&D General Forgotten Realms Book preview from NYCC

A quick flip-through of the Adventures in Faerun book.
Nerd Initiative on YouTube previewed the new Forgotten Realms books with Mackenzie De Armas in this short video, including a quick flip-through of the Adventures in Faerun book.

During the quick flip-through, he shows off blurry but mostly readable pages from the Dalelands section of the book, including a few of the DMG-style adventures, including a level 13 adventure called Heart of Fire, where the party is asked to recover a magic item in an Adult Red Dragon's hoard.

Notably, none of the adventures you can see in the video seem to have any new monsters from the book included. Also, not all of the adventures are confined to a single page. Some seem to be at least a page and a half, while others are even smaller to just a half page.

I'm now able to access them on DNDBeyond. Reading through Heroes book now; AMA.
The 2024 PHB includes firearms. It's been part of FR's identity for a while that gunpowder doesn't work on the planet by decree of the god Gond, and "smokepowder" replaces gunpowder but it is much rarer and more expensive.

Are firearms more common in the realms now, and if so, is anything said about gunpowder and/or smokepowder? Off the top of my head the average monster manual pirate has a pistol now, so I'm wondering if the book addresses that or if they have pirates with crossbows instead.

What does the Dragonborn and Goliath sections provide for Lore?

Goliaths

  • enclaves found in Chult, Anauroch, and The North
  • some live near and/or with communities of giants. Likely to be the same type of goliath as the giants are (cloud, fire, frost, etc). Influenced by giants' beliefs & serve as intermediaries/ambassadors for giants & smaller folk
  • Peaceful folk with a history of sending out individual explorers
Dragonborn

  • Many arrived in Toril via Spellplague but some were always there
  • Tyrmather destroyed, dragonborn diaspora now widespread across Faerun but Old Empires and Calim Desert mentioned specifically
  • Some dragonborn trace Faerunian lineage back to Dawn Age

At least in the Heroes book, I'm not seeing any references to firearms.
