D&D 5E (2014) Forgotten Realms Gazetter?

Are you setting it in 1373 DR?

It started in spring, 1372. When the players created the party, they had a definite anti-drow agenda, so I made a few changes to the adventure to fit that and the current setting.

The disappearance of Lolth has caused a faction of drow to leave Menzoberranzan to set up shop in their old Elder Elemental Eye temple. I've changed the prophets to drow, added a lead priestess of the EEE as well as some drow cultists to the adventure.

What about Ed Greenwood's Guide to the Realms that came out after 4e was cancelled? Does that have any useful info or is it more "This is a picture of the sandwich I was eating when I came up with Cormyr."?

I haven't finished reading it, but it has a LOT of Realms flavor. It's not so good as an introduction to the setting however - it's more about details that help bring the setting to life (food, laws, customs, language) than an overview. Plus occasional bits of real-world Realms history ("Here's the original organization chart of the Zhentarim I used for my campaign, but it kept changing on account of players killing off functionaries.")

Excellent, lots of useful in character info that is plug-n-play.
