Here is what we know

D, B, B, W, I, T, S, S... "Three are completely and utterly new. The rest are either classes or old concepts revisited." ...

Druid, primal (confirmed)
Barbarian, primal (confirmed)
Bard, arcane (confirmed)
W
Illusionist, arcane (all but confirmed)
T
Shaman, primal or divine? (all but confirmed)
Sorcerer, arcane (confirmed)

Well, obviously the above is wrong. There have been both Illusionists and Shamans in D&D… right? Or does the NPC shaman not count? Wasn’t there another shaman in class some place?
Looking like W & T are going to be divine?

Yeah, the Illusionist has just been rampant repeated speculation but no actual source or hint of it that I know of (but I could be wrong).

From the info I know/have gathered, I think the primal classes will be:

Druid
Barbarian
Shaman
one other (T, I, or W)

Arcane will have:
Bard
Sorcerer

and Divine will have:
one class (T, I, or W)
and another class (T, I, or W)

Illusionists are most likely Shadow sourced, and thus not appearing anytime soon. As for the T, I, and W, some ides I've seen thrown out are

W - Warden, Witch. A lot slot this guy as the Primal Controller, for some reason.

I - Inquisitor, Incantrix. A lot of thought seems to think we're getting a Divine Striker and Controller, and since the W seems to be assumed Primal, this would be one of the other two choices.

T - Theurge, Templar. The other Divine class.

Here is something I pulled from another board:

Speculation said:
Barbarian - Primal Defender
Bard - Arcane Leader
Druid - Primal Striker
Inquisitor - Divine Striker
Shaman - Primal Leader
Sorcerer - Arcane Controller
Templar - Divine Controller
Witch - Primal Controller

Assuming this is right, after this is published we'll have:

Defenders -
Fighter (Martial)
Paladin (Divine)
Swordmage (Arcane)
Barbarian (Primal)

Strikers -
Rogue (Martial)
Ranger (Martial)
Inquisitor (Divine)
Warlock (Arcane)
Druid (Primal)

Leaders -
Warlord (Martial)
Cleric (Divine)
Bard (Arcane)
Shaman (Primal)

Controllers -
Templar (Divine)
Wizard (Arcane)
Sorcerer (Arcane)
Witch (Primal)

Edit: Of course if there are only two controllers in PHB II, that throws the above speculation off a bit ...
Just speculation of course. :)

Looking pretty cool!

Well, with Gnomes appearing in the PHB2 with a full writeup, I wouldn't discount Illusionist from appearing in it. A lot of the speculation on it being Shadow based is from conjecture and loose hints. I'd say it still has a decent chance of being Arcane and appearing in the PHB2. Shadow always seemed kinda off for Illusionists to me anyway, considering that only a fraction of Illusions in previous editions were Shadow based.

I'm starting to have my doubts about seeing a dedicated (ie: non-"hybrid" role) Primal Controller in PH2. This speculation is based on a piece of GenCon news I read the other day indicating that PH2 would have two dedicated controller classes. (I'm still looking for the source.)

My reasoning against the Primal Controller is that, A.) We know Sorcerer is in PH2, and that it's an Arcane Controller; B.) It's been hinted that PH2 will also contain a more "spellcaster-y" Divine class, which to me and others suggests "Divine Controller". That's two.

Of course, I could be way off-base.

I do not believe we'll see Illusionists at all for PHB2.

And I do not believe we'll see a primal controller. Why?

We know that two of the classes in PHB2 will be controllers (source). The Sorcerer is an arcane controller (Source). That leaves at least one.

From two different sources we've had hints of a Divine controller:

Mearls mentioning, when discussing PHB2, "a cleric that's a bit more on the spellcaster-y side" (source, and then there's this:
On The Tome, Andy Collins was asked about upcoming Controllers, and said they're still in the early design phase of the next wave of classes, but mentioned the Sorcerer is possible for that role, and they're thinking about a Divine Controller and some form of Psionic Controller. (It's at about 23:25 in the podcast.) He also mentioned "you're not going to see the Cleric throwing around Flame Strike type powers really frequently", but "when we get around to a Divine Controller class he will probably have more of those type of effects". (At about 27:30.)
I'm very suspicious the druid will have some primal controller in them, as part of their "Hybrid role".

Here's the thing.

What role do you think an illusionist is going to be? The only thing that really makes sense is a controller. And there's only going to be two of those.
