Forked Thread: A little PHB 2 info

I personally see the Barbarian as a Primal Defender and Druid and a Primal Hybrid (Striker/Controller).
They both have a lot of Stances that grant them various bonuses to speed, damage, attack, and defenses.

The Druid might end up like the Ranger and be split in two. But unlike the ranger; only one half with be striker, the other will be controller. Something like a bear armed CHA vs AC Twin Strike at will and a WIS vs Reflex Wind based Thunderwave. But no Quarry or Orb to back it up.

I am more than slightly repulsed by the idea of a controller/anything Hybrid. It feels like having your cake and eating it too. I would much prefer the druid be a defender/striker hybrid or even a striker/leader hybrid.

I'd peg the Barbarian as a Striker rather than a Defender. I picture them wadeing through masses of bodies and flying limbs rather than protecting the squishies.

I can imagine a Druid as a hybrid Striker/controller. Which seems just wrong, but Druids have always kicked major booty.

Folks, I think you need to get striker out of your minds for Druid, Druid will be primal leader or primal controller; or if "hybrid" rumor is true then primal leader/controller.

As to the other guesses Barbarian - primal striker, Bard - arcane leader, Shaman - primal controller, Sacred _______- Divine Controller, Warrior - Primal Defender, I - divine striker, T - ???

That's right I don't think Sorcerer makes the cut - will have to wait for elemental contoller or shadow controller

Err... Sorcerer was mentioned in the WotC catalog entry for Arcane Power as one of the classes additional material will be available for. And since it's not going to be in the FR Player's Guide, it's in PHB2. It's one of the 'no room for doubt, definitely in' classes in PHB2 (along with barbarian, druid, and bard).

Shapeshifting doesn't seem like it would work very well for leader or controller, so unless you think they're going to drop shapeshifting as a druid thing...?

Not to mention the designers have said Shapeshifting was one of the Big things they were focusing on for the Druid, too, because it is what makes the class unique.

Actually, about the only info we have about the Shaman at this point is that it's a leader, and it's widely presumed to be Primal.

Oh, and the Divine Controller won't have a two-word or hyphenated name; WotC said it's not going to be doing that. People are tossing around "Theurge" and "Thaumaturge" as potential Divine Controller class names.
