Forums by number - am I sad or what?

The Sigil

Mr. 3000 (Words per post)
I just realized something...

I know the forums I visit by number - and I log into them directly when I come ENWorld by dropping them into my browser bar.

Forum 2 -> General Discussion
Forum 10-> d20 Publishers
Forum 35-> Meta
Forum 56-> Books/Movies/et al (a.k.a. LotR/Buffy/Farscape)

In fact, I know the numbers better than the thread names. :-/

I REALLY need to get out more. Then again, I know quite a few websites by TCP/IP address rather than name, too. :-/

I guess that scores me points on the Nerdity test. Anyone else having this problem?

Hmm...I've only had it once before. And something interesting came out of it...

A long, long time ago, on a forum far, far away, I was going through all the numbers of the boards to see which forums were which. All of a sudden, I stumble upon: the 'Newbie Forum'! Now this was a surprise. Especially because this particular forum didn't HAVE a newbie forum! Or so I thought. Seconds later, I find 'The ULTIMATE Q&A' forum! Confused, I check the main page. Nope, no Newbie forum, and no Q&A forum. And then it hit me. I had found a SECRET forum! So basicly, I (and another person who found the forums) set up a secret society. And for about 4 hours, no-one knew about it. Then someone told on us. Bah.
As it turned out, the Admin had disabled the forums from view and forgot to delete them, which he did not long after. Double Bah.
Sadly, I haven't found any Secret forums on EN World yet...

I know the Playing the Game forum is 15 and the Talking the Talk forum is 64, but I cheated... I'm a Mod there. :D

I did know the old IC/current PtG forum by number, though. Good thing, too... it was part of my Mod Certification Test. ;)

If you use this practice of typing the number in the browserbar, you might one day have the fun to make a typo and type 3 (rules) instead of 2 (GD). Now, instead of thinking "Hey, I got in Rules by accident", you might be tempted to open the first thread, give the rule answer and say "this really should be in rules".

Not that I would EVER do such a thing :rolleyes:
