It has to do with how the Wizards boards are run. They actually operate on several different servers. Sometimes one of the servers will go down, so the people who are directed to that server when they visit the forums can't access them.

If true (and I'm not saying you're not honest, only being cautious) that would explain what I've experienced as well.

It seems that recently every time WotC tries to accomplish something online, they can't get it right. Search function ... nope - MTGO working as promised ... after 2+ years nope - servers up and running ... nope. Well at least the daily shutdown for maintenance works as planned. But then again, that's making a plan to have something not work. Every time I think about the DI I get more and more excited. I'm so relieved the project is in such capable hands.

To be fair, about six hours ago, I've started a successful search for my own posts. The search function is in test mode. It doesn't crawl through the archives, only through the live boards, but it works.

How long, until they go out of test mode... well, that's something we'll have to wait for. But they're trying to get it working.
