Yea, I figured as much. Ah well, sometimes its good to shock players out of their complacancy, and a creature that out of no-where inflicts burst damage such as this can really put the fear of god(s?) into them!

My tanks have damage reudction gear, lets see if they remember to use it

if you really want to put the fear of god into them, upgrade it to an elite, and drop the Avenger template from DMG2 onto it. Then give it high mobility powers

What you said. That high mobility stuff can really suck for the players. We just did a session where we fought this Troll boss that had the ability to swap with any of the Troll "Shades" in his group. So I had just popped Opportunistic shove on him with my Avenger, then he starts swapping places for the rest of the encounter, and I'm doing everything I can just to stay adjacent to him, since he's my OOE target.

It was pretty funny and kinda neat actually. I'd work my carcass off getting next to him and getting a hit (bam, he goes prone), then he'd stand (I'd get the MBA) and poof! He's gone again, swapping with a Shade..

and then when we killed him, he did some kind of corpse explosion in a burst 3 that gave everyone in it the plague, complete with corpulent, noxious pustules. Nice.
