[FR] Incantatrix

Well with 3.5 you cant stack the same metamagic on for 2-5x empowerd spells. That was the real problem with the class and its resolved with the new edition. And forget about buffs because they are all static bonuses and can not benefit from metamagics to increase the bonus.

After reading these responces, I think I'll allow Incantatrix with the stipulation that the School Specialization of the class works just like regular class specialization in 3.5 and you can not start out as an
Abjurer. (In other words, giving up 3-4 schools in exchange for the class).

Thanks for the help.

If there are any more suggestions, I'm open to them.

I play in a game and run a wizard that has finished this class (got all 10 levels), now I am going archmage. Basically I don’t feel the class is overpowered, I play my wizard as more of a buff type wizards than a evoker. The other wizard in the party is the combat mage (he’s 18th and so am I), but he is wayyy more effective in combat. I do use my maximized, empowered, twined magic missile to good effect every once in awhile. :)

I also made a greater rod of extending from Tome & Blood, so he is the metamagic buffer from hell.

Thanks for the imput, Dagger.

One problem is, he has himself stated he hates to be the party's "buffer". That was his major reason for dumping his cleric, since he sees the 3.5 version of cleric as solely a support class now.

He'll definately be an offensive mage (especially since he's sure to tank his charisma).

Cleric soley a support class? Er, k...I play a 10th level cleric that can wreck shop in physical combat with just a couple spells. I certainly don't feel like a support class, any more than say a fighter is a support class for a wizard so the wizard doesn't get chopped down by the front rank of enemies.

I honestly can't remember what opposition schools I choose.... I’m pretty sure Enchantment was one. I'm sure my guy could be a really effective combat mage if I played him that way. I do use prismatic spray a lot, but other than that and magic missle, thats pretty much it. The other mage is currently ahead of the bar in combat, basically because of his archmage abilities to spell shape and energy substitution.

The death ward is very nice, but it has not come up very much for the character, it seems that most of the death effects are attracted to the meat shields.

I say give it to him.
And give all your players extra xp to compensate for the over powered PC.....and chocolate to make them all feel better.............and dice because your such a nice guy.

Yes... well... Lets just say I feel he has many interesting notions about the game, as he feels the same about my viewpoints.
