FR, Shevarash

Question

First Post
I read faiths and pantheons, but shevarash only has a tiny section on him. Its not mentioned anywhere that i can find, just why was he raised to godhood? Because he killed a lot of drow? Many have done such feats but never been raised to godhood or even given any recognition from divine powers. Also theres not exactly a lot of info on the church..........all thats said is they swear oaths not to smile or laugh.

Question,

Demihuman Deities has a lot more pertient info on Shervarash. My understanding is that he did kill lots of drow but I think he killed like a half-divine son of Lolth...or something like that. Demihuman deities has more details as I said, both about him and his church.

He is deification of the elves' hatred for the drow, loss, vengence, retribution.

I think he was raised to god-hood because he was a perfect example of the above in elf form...he became the ideals that consumed him.

Others must not have been worthy of the role. As part of the elven court, he must have been appointed by Correlon.

I found info on him at planewalker, candlekeep, and various other google results, but he's basically a really p'd-off widower racist. :p

That's about all I got...

From Demihuman Deities:

Nearly 6,000 years ago, circa - 4400 DR, on Midwinter night the longest, darkest night of the year-an army of duergar and drow poured forth from the Underdark and overran both the dwarven realm of Sarphil on the southern shore of the Moonsea and the Elven Court at the heart of the great forest of Arcorar. The Dark Court Slaughter claimed the lives of countless elves and dwarves, including most of the assembled leaders of the Fair Folk and the Stout Folk who had come to the Elven Court to reestablish their long-standing alliance. Among the fallen was the family of the archer-guard Shevarash, once a carefree hunter of the Elven Court. In an anger-tinged prayer to Corellon, Shevarash vowed to become the Seldarine's hand against the drow to extract revenge for the loss of his family. The grief-stricken warrior swore a grim oath neither to laugh nor smile until the drow goddess Lolth and her foul followers were destroyed. It was a tall order, but for the remainder of his life,
Shevarash became the deadliest nemesis of the drow, raiding their underground cities, slaying their priests, and destroying shrines to their foul gods. Shevarash was finally slain by a horde
of myrlochar (soul spiders) after killing the high priestess Darthiir'eigg Aleanrahel and six of her consorts, circa - 4070 DR.
Upon his death and with the assistance of Fenmarel Mestarine, Shevarash the Black Archer underwent apotheosis to become the Night Hunter and the Arrow Bringer.

FWIW Corellon did not actually want to raise Shevarash; it's worth noting that it was Fenmarel (himself something of an outcast) that did it.

Sorry to contradict you, Werk, but I happen to know people who have been into it since 2ed ;) .

No, you're cool. I hit reply before there were any replies at all, and was largely just doing a report of what I found on my search and basic inferrance. No offense taken, but I've been 'into FR' since Darkwalker was published, I just don't keep up on all the NPCs :)
