FRCG - Primordials

Legend
Hi all,

I haven't got the FRCG, but I understand it has some primordials in it. I was wondering if someone who has got the book could give me a bit more info about them. Are they essentially just gods? Or super-epic monsters? What sort of fluff, if any, accompanies their stats in the book?

I'd really just like to know if the book gives us any more insight into the nature of primordials.

Thanks in advance.

Cheers,
Jonathan

There's about half a page on primordials in the gods chapter, giving short descriptions about the Elemental Lords (Akadi, Grumbar, Istishia, and Kossuth; all unaligned) as well as Bazar-Gorag (who's all about Chaos and Slaad; Chaotic Evil). There's also a four-page section in the Threats chapter about the Court of Rorn, who's another Primordial who's currently asleep but on the verge of waking up, and his followers are doing various stuff to pave the way for him (mostly on Abeir). Three of those four pages are dedicated to monster descriptions for both Rorn (level 33 solo, sort of like Orcus in the MM) and some of his chief servitors (level 25+), with the rest having some background on the Court.

Hey thanks, Staffan.

Sounds like the relationship between deities and primordials -- at least in the Realms -- is similar to that of the classical Greek Olympians and Titans.

That's more or less what I was hoping for ...

I wanted the primordials to be gods in everything but name and to be diametrically opposed to the deities of the world on the order vs chaos axis.

Essentially yes. The fluff in the book sets out how the gods and primordials went at each other at the beginning of time arguing over who got to rule the roost.

AO came in and seperated them between Abeir and Toril as they couldnt play nice with each other.

Somehow the elemntal lords got stuck on Toril being worshipped as gods.
