Free PDF Utility (PDF995) Anyone use it?

Has anyone ever used this free utility to create PDFs? Any comments on it?

Yup, it works fine but it's nag-ware. That is, it pops up a web page every time you use it asking you to purchase a full version. That said, it could be much worse on the advertising front.

It's basically identical, but it's 100% free.

Both programs work by creating a virtual printer that spits out a pdf from your finished document. It doesn't let you do advanced things, like edit a PDF that has already been created, but it's an easy way to make PDF documents from scratch. I think feature-wise, they're basically identical.

I've used it. It's pretty good. Don't really mind the nagging much.

We use a (free) utility at my work that converts HTML to PDF. If you put the right tags in the HTML it converts them to PDF bookmarks. The name of the tool escapes me at the moment, but if you're interested I'll find it for you tomorrow.

Upon closer examination, pdf995 does have more features than pdfcreator, some of them specifically dealing with bookmarks. So I guess there is a reason to put up with their advertising.

Open Office prints to PDF

I don't think it does bookmarks but Open office lets me print output to a PDF file. I keep a native (sxw) format doc and a PDF doc for everything I write for my games.

If you haven't tried Open Office give it a try, unless you think M$ isn't rich enough yet .

Open Office isn't bad. I prefer the MS Office interface, though. I also use VBA for a few things, and Open Office has no equivalent. Plus, I can got MS Office Pro 2003 for $20.
