So, if it was the second response would it have been okay?

My personal opinion is I don't care.

My 'professional' opinon if you will, is that no, it wouldn't have. It has no place in the same thread.

And as Man-Thing has just done it againand again, I'm sure it will become an issue so we'll see how it plays out.

EDIT:
"You know, the first couple of times you did this, it was "cute". But you're directly replying to a press release in which the publisher posted a link TO the ENGS, and you are specifically trying to take business away from that. You aren't doing anyone any favors by being rude, or trying to find loopholes in the rules, unless your intent is to offend.

I have not commented on whether or not I agree with the linking policy, but actually posting alternative purchasing links to peoples press releases is simply in bad taste. I'm going to have to insist that you allow publishers to do their business, and not try to do it for them."

Who are you quoting there?

For what it's worth, I don't mind that he's doing it. I think the policy is idiotic, and is an artificial way to penalize publishers in a strong-arm attempt to get them to sign up to ENGS. I think that the smarter way would have been to attract publishers, rather than alienating them.

However, Morrus was clear about the policy. If he wants to alter it to cover non-publishers as well, that's his decision....and only makes the nature of the policy that much more obvious to the casual observer.

"You get more flies with honey than you do with vinegar."

My great great grandmother got it, it's a pretty timeless sentiment.

In the long run, maybe it'll help ENWorld, but short-run I think there were many ways to do the same thing without cheesing off alot of regulars and starting out ENWorld Game Store's relationship with the smaller publishers by locking down their ability to sell products where most of their readership "lives", and holding them up for 99 dollars to get it back.

Sadly, after experimentation, I have to say that no, you actually get more flies with vinegar.

At least in a literal sense.

Back on topic

Gary Gygax’s World Builder & Gary Gygax’s Living Fantasy are actually two useful books for me. They are more like toolkits that I find myself looking into every now and again for little ideas here and there. World Builder I do use more then Living Fantasy.

It took me quite a while to get into the World Builder but that was mostly my fault for not having time to sit down and read it. Now that I have, tons of information that I now use practically daily in my life as a DM. If you are looking to add some detail to your game, this has been my #1 resource besides my imagination of course.

Good cause we plan to do more... one with RPGObject next I think. Great idea Stephen. The only question is, does it cover the shipping costs?

The publisher is picking up the shipping costs. So you need to tell me the rules up front. That's all. We help promote it and put it in the newsletter which gets about 1000 direct hits usually for a topic in there. 18,000 circulation
