Fresh from the garden

I just had a salad for dinner, and everything in it (except for the salad dressing) came from my garden! :D
Lettuce, cucumber, and white radishes. Let me tell you, that cucumber was DELICIOUS! It's too bad I probably won't get any more from those plants, as they got some sort of disease from the damn cucumber beetles, and only one vine survived, and it only had the one cuke on it. But it was a big one! The tomatoes are beginning to ripen, they should start coming in the next few days. And let me tell you, I have A LOT of tomatoes. 7 plants, and last time I counted, I had over 110 tomatoes that were on the vines, with more showing up all the time, and lots of new blossoms opening every day.
This is the first garden I have had since high school, when I lived with my parents. Can you tell I'm excited?

Nothing like fresh food from the garden! Next year my wife and I plan on planting our garden. Same as you, it will be my first since I was in high school when my parents had a garden.

I know there are a ton of garden books and methods out there, but I highly recommend "Square Foot Gardening" by Mel Bartholomew:

I had an older edition of the book that I have been toting around for years, and finally got to use it. Let em tell you, THIS METHOD WORKS! I haven't had to do very much at all once I go the garden put together and planted. I built raised beds as I have utility lines running everywhere under our little yard, but this method also works in traditional beds as well.
