Friday the 13th - come share horror stories of bad luck!

So, yesterday was Friday the 13th! Ever have any bad luck happen to you on one of those days? To someone you know? Read it in the newspaper? Ever just have an amazing streak of bad luck? Cross the path of a black cat? Walk under a ladder? What's happened to you?!

For me, I'm really not that superstitious (I'm more into irony, really), but yesterday me and my best friend T were driving over to our friend's A's work to pick her up - and the muffler fell off his car. We had to call his dad to come bring us rope and a length of wood to keep that supported while we drive the beast back to his house.

Funny thing was that we didn't even initially realize it was the 13th. I ended up looking at my cell later on and we howled with laughter.

The other funny thing is that his car is nick-named 'the juggernaut'; with its' muffler effectively blown off the car, it has now ascended into 'dreadnauthood' and is now nick-named 'the dreadnaut' :p

Anyway, come share your war stories with us :D

Last night, after leaving my friend's place, where I had just GMed a game, I heard a strange hissing coming from my bag of gaming stuff. Since I was driving, I waited until a minute or two later when I parked.

One of the surplus cans of soda I'd decided to take custody of, and, for lack of space, put in my gaming bag, had been punctured by the metal part of my clipboard! There was coke soaked into all of my graph paper and the edges of a few character sheets. My laptop and True20 book were in the bag as well, but both miraculously escaped damage. The backpack, to say the least, is very sticky.

My dad blamed youthful foolishness, I blamed yesterday's date.

A nasty storm was predicted to hit Dallas/Fort Worth late yesterday afternoon, so my boss being the nice guy that he is, let me go early to beat the traffic and get home.

So I'm at home for about a half hour when I hear my wife jiggling her car keys to go pick up our son from afterschool care. I asked her if she wanted me to go, and she decline, and talking about dinner I suggested she stop by the store and pick up some sandwich makings.

My daughter is playing outside so after a while I'm seeing some black clouds and lightning zipping across the sky, and I ask her to come inside. Turning on the TV the weather man's already talking about tornado conditions in the area and the possibility of hail. I frantically clear a space in the garage to get my car inside. I call my wife and get voicemail! Cripes.

The storm soon hits and starts to flood the gutters in a matter of minutes. Still no wife and son. After about another fifteen minutes of heavy rain the hail starts. We get quarter-size but not in great amounts. It takes about five minutes to blow through and in another five minutes the rain completely stops. The storm took a total of thirty minutes. Right about that time my wife and son pull up and they're both sopping wet from running from the store to the car.

So I guess it was more of a Friday 13th experience for the two of them. My parents also had it bad as they had golfball size hail and their car's windshield got smashed. There was some funnel clouds spotted to the south, and while there was lots of wind damage, I don't think it touched down in town.

I got lost in Peoria on my way to see ATHF:MFFT at the Rave? My dad and his friends got the wrong time for Grindhouse at the same theater?

On Friday my mom and I were searching for sometrhing decent to see in the theater for Saturday. We settled on one movie we thought wed enjoy, but ended up being what I deem as a 'sleeper' movie: fighting your body to stay awake. The movie we settled on was First Snow.

I was going to take a friend to one of my favorite restaurants. We got there at seven thirty, and it was closed, even though the sign said it should have been open til nine.

This particular Friday the 13 was my SO and my 6-month anniversary. And, six months ago was the last Friday the 13.

It's a good day for us.
:D

Though, our plans on each of the days went horribly awry.

I work in tech support, and on Friday the 13th my boss was out (meaning my workload almost doubles), I had tons of stuff on my to-do list from the day before, and a customer decided to make his purpose in life stressing me to the limit by demanding the impossible and doing it with unecessarily snarkey emails. Oh, and the coworker who asked me to keep the guy happy was out that day as well, so I had no one to turn the guy over to when he started getting upset.

Friday the 13th is usually either a neutral or strangely lucky day for me, but last Friday was just awful. There's nothing quite like getting an email first thing in the morning that makes you literally cry out of frustration. :(

My 7pm flight didn't start boarding until 8.30pm... does that count?

Now Hype it doesn't. Out of interest why did you fly on the 13th? was it cheaper for you?

I flew that evening as well and the only reason I did so was because it was WAAAY cheaper than the other days around it.

Superstitous people are sukkas!
