Our group really liked 4e when it first came out. We played for a solid year, then drifted into the OSR, which was quite fun (and very deadly!). Our group has come full circle again and it is at 4th edition, with most of the gamers re-subscribed to DDI, and the campaign is feeling really good from RP'ing to storyline to combat.
Yep. It really took me going to Pathfinder that really rekindled my love of 4e and made me realize all the fantastic design decisions that came out of it. Every four hour PF session we spend at least an hour arguing about or looking up rules, spells and so on. We never even cracked a book open in most of our 4e sessions and we never argued about rules.
That being said, I don't want to seem like I'm piling on PF. There are some things it actually does quite well, that 4e can't handle. Narrative combat sans minis is one of them.

Still, today went out and picked up a ton of 4e stuff that I hadn't bought when it first came out in order to bring my collection up to date. Was reading through Madness at Gardmore Abbey and have been really impressed with it so far. I love the way they handle the Deck of Many Things. It really feels like an artifact should.
