Wizards of the Coast has set aside some space in the RPGA area (the Sagamore Ballroom in the convention center) for anyone's D&D games, no matter the edition or the group that is running it.
Here is their announcement:
Embrace Your Edition: DM Your D&D Game in the Sagamore!
At Gen Con Indy this year, Wizards of the Coast invites you to run your Dungeons & Dragons game, regardless of edition, in the Sagamore Ballroom alongside the official Wizards games and the RPGA events. Events using original (Basic) D&D, 1st Edition AD&D, 2nd Edition AD&D, 3rd/3.5 Edition D&D, and 4th Edition D&D rules are all welcome in the Sagamore Ballroom this year, while space is available! Instead of being thrown into the mix with the other RPGs, you'll be able to run your game where all the D&D action is - taking advantage of the large D&D audience, access to Wizards staff, and help from the D&D HQ area. If you have questions on the Sagamore Ballroom D&D events or want more information, please visit www.baldmangames.com/gencon<http://www.baldmangames.com/gencon>.
This means that if you are running a D&D game, it will be placed in the Sagamore by default. Groups that run a variety of games in addition to D&D or that have large organized tournaments of their own already will still be placed with other RPGs as normal, but independent D&D games and smaller groups will be placed there.
Locations for most RPGs are currently in the registration system, so if you are wondering where your specific events have been placed, you can sign into your account to check where everything will be.
If you have any questions about how the RPGA area will work or how their HQ can help you, you can contact Wizards directly.
If you - for any reason - do not want to have your game placed in the Sagamore with all the other D&D games, just let us know and we'll find other suitable space for you.
If you have any other questions, please let me know.
Thanks,
Derek Guder
