D&D 5E Front Line Warlock (Or other caster)

Has anyone played a frequently front line Warlock that is not Blade Pact?

Yes, but I've always multiclassed it with another class.

I have a Fighter 8/Warlock 6 (Eldritch Knight/Fiend Patron+Chain Pact) who wears full plate and wades in with a greatsword. His warlock and wizard spells spells are mainly utility spells chosen to get him past or remove obstacles (misty step, gust of wind, fly, counterspell, remove curse, darkness, dispel magic, etc). His main damage comes from the greatsword and GWM (often combined with Green Flame Blade or Booming Blade and War magic, with the Imp familiar giving advantage)

I also have a Paladin 5/Warlock 4 (Vengeance Oath, Fiend Patron+Tome Pact) - he uses a quarterstaff with Shillelagh from his Tome, allowing him to use Charisma for his melee attack stat. He also has Warcaster and Polearm Master so he can attack people who close with him, and attack with Booming Blade on Opp Attacks. (Eventually he will be able to use the 7th level Oath of Vengeance ability to move when making an Opp Attack, which means if you close with him he can attack with Booming Blade, then move out of melee range - forcing you to either follow and take more damage, or stop.)

Haven't done a pure warlock who prefers melee range yet, although my 13th level Fiend Patron+Chain Pact warlock has been known to cast Armor of Agathsys and Blade Ward then deliberately provoke Opp Attacks with her 15 AC, with a Hellish Rebuke thrown in for good measure.
