D&D (2024) Warlock idea fishing

So.
I'm going to be doing an 2024 infernal tiefling fiendlock with blade pact.

My goal, however, is to go all in on fire and ice magics, starting with green flame blade. I like cantrip casting as a warlock, not attacking like a fighter, so doing a bit of tweaking.

I plan on focusing on Armor of Agath(a All Along), later Fire Shield, for my spell slot uses. I'm going to be snagging Flames of phlegethos as well, going all in on thorn tanking.

I'm hoping to get a tweaked version of Agonizing Blast that focuses on fire cantrips scaling extra damage similar to how EB would. So it'd work with firebolt and GFB scaling, but, well, fire common resistance.

No Thirsting Blade, etc invocations.

Would yall think this would be okay to run with, on either side? Just fishing around for thoughts and feedback.

fire common resistance.
FWIW, Elemental Adept ignores resistance (for one element).

This question depends on how optimized the rest of the table is running, and how much magic items there are going to be (as extra attack would multiply the power of those).

Rogue is really the only one who can make a single attack work (as Warlock doesn't have the slots to burn them on smites).

But you'll be... okay?

If we're running the numbers and not going by flavor, GFB falls well behind multiple attacks. The only way to get it to roughly parity is to run it as a Celestial Warlock, because you can stack on their Radiant Soul feature that adds their Cha mod to the attack a third time. Or if you're willing to look at other gish options, the classes explicitly built for "mixing weapon use with cantrips" are Eldritch Knight Fighters and Valor Bards.

But obviously, flavor is a concern for you. You wouldn't be proposing the Tiefling Fiend Warlock if it wasn't. So we stand at a crossroads. Is flavor at the expense of sub-par play performance something you (and the rest of the table) are comfortable with? Or is re-flavoring one of the other options so that it fits your desired theme while being more mechanically effective at the playstyle something you and your DM are open to doing?

I can suggest the other Tiefling racial feat ( hellish resilience?). You would have Resistance to fire/cold/poison and a floating one from Fiend patron. Add to that Flame of Phlegetos, Cloak of Flies, Armor of Agarthys and you are looking for a beefy retaliation build.

Most of your damage would come from your thorns rather than your attacks. You then have to force enemies to stay close to you, using Grasp of Hadar, Arms of Hadar, lightning lures, thorn whip etc.

So it's doable. Not the most OP character ever, but quite fun.

I think it is fine but a bit underpowered. If you are playing in a game of hard core optimizers you need to go another route, but in most parties that will be fine.

Agonizing Blast already works with Firebolt and Green Flame Blade, so I don't know what you mean by a tweaked version.
