FUDGE mechanics, your thoughts?

No glaring obvious and objective faults I can see. I think that it largely depends on your taste. Generally

S = T(RL) + T(T)

S = Suitablity of FUDGE for you.
T(RL) = Your tolerance for rules light setups.
T(T) = Your tolerance to spend time tinkering with the toolkit to make it into a playable game for you.

Thanks for your feedback, even thought its blatant from this quote that you are the enemy.

By conversions i meant e.g: DnD translated into Fudge, not necessarily the whole and wide mass of rules and labyrinthic correlations, leading one from one end of the pool of fog to the other, but rather taking the essence of Dnd, which i of course like, and ... well, translate! It seems easy enough, with the set skills and abilities and all, the only things are weapons and DCs and coping with that you cant actually expect to be able to kill no more dragons.

Yes, indeed, but arent there conversions available? If not, why not? Its ten years old - and this is part of the reason i fish on this messageboard - fore if it IS great, as i blindly believe, then why hasnt it developed to a real movement? I fear the reason is lack of commercial machinery.

It also takes some work to adjust the system to your campaign world. It doesn't coddle the GM, unlike many other "plug & play" systems.

Regardless, i kind of like this part of roleplaying - the making of a world and system that works fancily.

Not really. It's not my bag, but it just might be yours.

Oh, and I think there's an adaption of the old Aria RPG for FUDGE somewhere on the Net. Basically, you get to role-play whole countries with the FUDGE rules. Search for "FUDGE" and "Interactive History"...

Would you use fire to kill a troll in FUDGE?

That depends on your definition of "troll".

Really, there are so many variants of trolls in myth, fantasy, and role-playing games that you don't have to use the D&D default...
