What is your take on something like a death flag thrown into a game of D&D?

For those not familiar with it, a death flag is an E6 (I think?) concept where a character can not die unless the player decides that it's an appropriate point and time in the story.

I am not S'mon, but, personally, I despise death flags. I won't run or play in such games.

Really? Why not? I used a similar mechanic in my last 3e game - players could burn all their Action Points to leave them stable at -5 HP. It wouldn't prevent a TPK, nor would it prevent being captured or the like, but, it gave the players the option of not dying.

Worked very well for me.
