Heretic of The Seventh Circle
My initial list. Ill be adding some of y'all's suggestions
Yea. That's how I'd do it.Having played an artificer in a game that used the spell points system from the DMG, I have to say that helps a lot with flexibility. With spell points, you can provide a mechanism for full caster reserves and just allowing complete upcasting (spell levels up to class level/2) would go a long way.
I say combine the "mystic arcanum" with the vancian approach of having the Artificer pre-cast them. Call them Exemplars, make them Rituals, taking +10min and then you get a "spell grenade" you can hand off. Downside, requires time & prep. Upside, the Artificer can give someone else a single chargewand of banishmentproton pack. Its like a junior Spell Glyph without the ruby material component and it can be moved. Very much in keeping with the Artificer motif.
maybe use a faster half caster house rule?Basically yeah, that and getting key spells sooner rather than later, like fabricate.
wall of stone i can see the train of logic there, it sort of fits the idea of an artificer with abilities that 'build' things, though in a more magical sense where they earthbend the wall out of the ground rather than having any sort of gadget that does it, and if Maze wasn't in a demiplane and conjured an actual maze it would follow a similar logic (but it isn't and doesn't)Maze and Wall of Stone? I'd like to hear the reasoning behind that for Artificer.
Hmmm interesting. I may use that.maybe use a faster half caster house rule?

left table is default, right table is with faster progress.
SP value is about the same,
less total spell slots earlier, but you get to your 5th level spells as fast as a full caster.
I think demiplane stuff could fit, like magnificent magicwall of stone i can see the train of logic there, it sort of fits the idea of an artificer with abilities that 'build' things, though in a more magical sense where they earthbend the wall out of the ground rather than having any sort of gadget that does it, and if Maze wasn't in a demiplane and conjured an actual maze it would follow a similar logic (but it isn't and doesn't)
i mean, it's not that i don't think an artificer couldn't do demiplane stuff, it's that they're just spontaneously bamfing them away in the middle of a fight that doesn't feel right to me for them,I think demiplane stuff could fit, like magnificent magic
