[Full] Shackled City Adventure Path 3.5

Yea I do have a couple of the 3.0 books but like I said I have seen and played 3.5. So I do kind of know whats what, you'll just have to help fill in the blanks.

As for what race that would depend on you, I have always liked the exotic races like an Aasimilar, Tiefling or even a Githyanki (not to sure if I would want to play a sorcerer, more likely a monk) but if you only want the standard then and elf or halfling (possibly a sub class if they are allowed).

I have no problem with non-standard races in and of themselves, Mimic. But, the problem with the ones mentioned above is that they are all ECL+1 or higher, and that won't work in a game which begins at 1st level. If you have an idea for a race that is ECL+0, I'd be open to it.

Otherwise, an elf or halfling subrace would work fine too.

Player Update

Here's a quick rundown of where we stand with players:

Mimic: Elf or Halfling/Sorcerer or Monk (eventual Dragon Disciple)
Vigwyn the Unruly: Dwarven Cleric
silentspace: Wizard or Paladin
Ryltar: ???
Ankh-Morpork Guard: Rogue or Fighter (Swashbuckling Type)

And, as alternates:

Someone
Nac Mac Feegle

Players, keep working on your character concepts, please. When you've decided on your race and class for sure, start working on a detailed write-up concerning your character's appearance, personality, and background.

Let me know if I can be of any help.

Feel free to ask any further questions, if I've left anything out.

Will you accept gold dwarf race from FRCS? You mentioned that the pantheon used in the Adventure Path is Greyhawk--for cleric PCs, does that rule out dieties and/or domains from Forgotten Realms products?

Can't wait to get started! Right now I'm thinking gold dwarf raised in a mountainous area. He concentrates more on spell casting and combat, less on turning undead. He has a fascination with earth, stone, and mountains, which is what drew him to Cauldron...

Perhaps he has been researching the city's history for the past several months. He might be seeking answers to questions like: Why was the city built here? Who were the original founders? Why did the volcano go dormant? Has anyone ever explored the magma chambers and tubes underneath the city? (As a dwarf, he would be particularly interested in that last one!)

Perhaps he meets the other PCs by chance at a library, a temple, or a tavern. He might see promise there, and decide to take up with them in the hopes that they will be the kind of people likely to stumble across clues to such mysteries...

Cry Havoc: Thanks for letting me join up :). I'd be interested in playing either an elven fighter or a human monk, should Mimic pick the Sorcerer. Waiting for him to decide - I'll start my write-up then. Anything special that you'd like in there? (like, do you want us to whip up npcs that you might use - relatives, friends and the like?)

[edit]

Would you consider allowing feats from the Complete Warrior splatbook?

[edit2]

Am I correct in assuming that the subrace ability adjustments in GH are the same as the ones mentioned in the FR books? I don't have the Greyhawk Gazeteer handy :(.

I've statted out an Elven Fighter, think I'll stick with that one. Story is in the works.

Vigwyn, we could use the gold dwarf subrace from FRCS, that's no problem. But, I'd prefer to stick to the Greyhawk deities/domains, just because there will be a lot of references to them in the plot and so forth. It might seem a little odd to have a mix of pantheons. If there was a specific god or domain from the Realms you were thinking of, perhaps we can find a Greyhawk analog.

I really like the motivational seeds you're thinking about. Sounds like a very interesting character, and I encourage you to keep developing him along these lines.

Ryltar, don't worry about trying to find plot hooks for me in your character's background. In fact, it would be better to have the PCs start carte blanche when they arrive in Cauldron. They can originally be from anywhere you want, but ideally, they should be newly arrived in the volcano city when the game begins. The less baggage the better. That's kind of the only way to do it when you're running a published adventure. I'm more interested in personality traits and motivational seeds, like what Vigwyn offered for his cleric.

Feats from Complete Warrior should be fine.

Subrace adjustments from FRCS are okay too, so long as there isn't a lot of Realms-ish 'flavor' in your character's background or char. sheet.

Elven fighter sounds good...

Man, I'm always too slow to get in on a new game. Oh well...

I guess put me in as an alternate, though it doesn't seem like you'll need any.

I'm going to go Human Rogue/Fighter. Probably aim for Duelist if you'd allow it, though I think I'll just take it one level at a time and enjoy the RPing...especially because he's pretty much a self proclaimed ladies man, except he's not that good at it. I'm thinking, high Charisma...low Wisdom. ;)

EDIT: I'm blind...found the character creation rules. :)

Insight, you can be the third alternate. You never know....

How should we do the characters stats? Point buy? How much?

Character stats are a 28 point buy, with racial mods applied after (not that it matters for a human, but just fyi).

Your character concept sounds fun, so keep working on that. Is he going to start 1st level as a rogue or fighter?
