Templates
An idea I had (and you can check this if the old board's files are still accessible somewhere) was that furries should be templates applied on existing humanoids.
For example, feline + gnome => cat (mysterious, with a touch for magic and a taste for comfort); feline + half-orc => lion (tough fighter), feline + elf => wildcat, feline + dwarf => tiger, and so on. Canine + Halfling => Fox, canine + elf => wolf, canine + dwarf => St. Bernard, and so on.
That way, you would have a limited set of template (feline, equine, canine, rodent, bird, fish, amphibians (frog & toad, salamander), cow, sheep, deer, porcine, ape/monkey, etc.; maybe other for insects if you allow them). And for each template you would have the resulting furry for common humanoids, lets take the standard ones (human, dwarf, elf, gnome, halfling, half-elf, half-orc; plus goblin, hobgoblin, bugear, orc and kobold if needs be).
The advantage of this approach is that it would factorize the work needed, because you won't have to write every single creature, just templates for broad categories, and associate most combinations with the most appropriate animal specie.
