Future of Dungeon/Dragon magazines

Given that it's a "professional" website and somebody is supposed to have edited it - there's no excuse for something this slapdash.

The excuse is "it's not a big deal", and it's valid. You can read it and comprehend it. That's really all that's required. It's not an essay for high-school English class, and it's not something that we're paying for.

No, you can't. There are free-floating words there that don't appear to relate to the sentences before or after them. If you want to ignore it for yourself, great, but let's not pretend that the sow's ear is a silk purse.

My "favorite" (i.e. most hated) bit of bad English in the Gamingreport article was "Feats article.". That's it, that's the whole sentence. Not having followed Dragon regularly since the relaunch (I actually liked it a bit better before, unlike Dungeon which I never miss an issue of now), I have no idea what this was trying to convey. Is it a feature they're dropping? Adding? Changing? Or are they talking about a specific article? If so, what are they saying about it - that it was a mistake, or that it was something they should do more of? I ahve absolutely no idea.

Right after the relaunch, Dragon had a one-page article each month giving a bunch of new feats, with a different theme each month. It was one of the new articles that I least liked, but probably one of the ones I would be most likely to use (I doubt that really makes sense, but there it is). Anyway, it was dropped after only a few months.

I expect that that was the article that was mentioned.

As for the future of the magazines themselves - I'm happy with what little there is on the direction of Dungeon. I think the magazine has been excellent recently, and am glad they're going to continue with more of the same. I'm definately glad that there will be a future adventure path, and intrigued by both the mention of a conversion of another old module, and also a full-issue module. I'm not sure how either of these will go, or if there are in fact one and the same thing, but it'll be interesting to find out.

Sadly, I haven't been hugely impressed with Dragon of late. There are some good articles, and there's always something worth checking out in each issue, but it doesn't have the same sparkle as Dungeon. The teasers for the future don't hugely inspire me - I mostly homebrew, so am not greatly interested in FR/Eberron/Greyhawk material, and I would prefer to see a full issue dedicated to a single classic campaign (like the Dark Sun issue), with a crossover with Dungeon that an article for each of several old settings (giving enough to tease, but not enough to satisfy). Basically, it just leaves me cold. (Hopefully, I'm wrong, and Dragon will return to form.)

I'm definately going to pick up the "Best of Dragon", though.

Link interesting, article grammar poorly of words. Thread more funny, lots complain of typo and sentence. Me agreed. Author not spend 20 min fix, bad result without. Why? Life rush rush. Time not have of much.

Holy sour grapes Batman. Someone goes to the trouble of sharing the notes he took at GenCon and people have the nerve to bash him for not editing/re-writing the whole thing?!? Sheesh. Next time maybe he won't post at all. I'm sure there's better things to do at GenCon then sit in his hotel room re-typing his notes for a bunch of ungrateful schmoes on the net... :\

I've DONE THIS JOB before for other sites for Comic-Con International, and I know that reporting from a con can be hectic. But don't kid yourself that the people producing the content on the site have any particular interest in you or me. If they did, they'd at least be marginally familiar with the subject matter.

More importantly - according to the timing of the seminar and the posting of the notes, it was up about 20-30 minutes after the seminar ended. Now *that* was fast.

I'll take FAST news I can still read over slow news with impeccable grammar. As it turned out - at the time, I had just looked at the seminar schedule about 1 hour before that went up and I sighed, wondering what Paizo had said.

Well - I didn't have to wonder long. A little less criticism guys. Gaming Report is doing an excellent job with HORDES of pics and the essential news from everybody there. We are better informed online in most respects than if we were at GenCon.

So don't freakin' read it then. If all you want to do is complain you can always resond to the article right on the gaming report site. That'll teach 'em to post fast news.

I read it and it was no worse than 1/2 the posts I see on message boards everyday. I thank gaming report for their fast, free news report.
