D&D 5E Future UA may be Greyhawk Rules set

I'd expect the rules doc to be very light. Something just 2-3 pages that can fit into the beginning of a chapter for the Fall AP so DM's have what they need when the PCs tumble through a portal into Greyhawk.

Huh, sounds pretty cool.

I have the 4e Dark Sun Campaign Setting (the only 4e book I've EVER seen anywhere), and it sounds like the 4e Dark Sun is a "Mirror Universe" of sorts to this Points of Light.

I agree. By and large I use my own campaign world, but I still look back at my old Greyhawk books from time to time for inspiration.

An updated campaign world without all the baggage of Forgotten Realms would be great.

Of course it would also be great if I won the lottery, which probably isn't going to happen either. Although a new campaign setting is probably slightly more likely since I never play the lottery. I figure it doesn't really change my odds all that much. :)
The 3e Greyhawk Gazateer was an excellent resource, and, since there's been no indication of a timeline skip (unlike in FR), they could just more or less reprint it with 5e updates and some better art.

Ughh.. I hope the LGG never sees the light of day again. Bland history text with little actual value in running a GH campaign.

The short one, that works for a mild intro.

Some Greyhawk rules to consider:

1. XP for treasure
2. PCs do not get hit dice after 10th level; gain 1 or 2 hp/level depending on class
3. Stronghold, thieves' guild, wizard tower, etc. system for characters of "Name" level
4. Training (and spending money) to level
5. Revised ability score generation (either much lower point buy or 3d6 per ability)
6. Ability score requirements for PC classes
7. Alignment requirements for some PC classes (Lawful Good paladins, True Neutral druids, etc.)
8. Race-class combo limitations
9. Level limits for non-humans

None of that is GH specific. It's just 1e - the same base rules that were used for Dragonlance, Forgotten Realms, Oriental Advebtures....

They could TOTALLY do an adventure in the city of Greyhawk with their current adventure paradigm. When I ran Curse of Strahd one of my first thoughts was "an adventure of this length and depth would be perfect for a city-based Greyhawk sandbox adventure."

I'd buy it. Twice.

Pfft! LGG may be pathetic as a player's guide, but it is a good DM resource.

Right. I think people are reading a lot into this...and then they are going to get 2 or 3 pages to give a little OSR edge to the game.

I agree. I expect a handful of subclasses and a subrace or two.

Wanting a different campaign setting other than FR is just wishful thinking and nostalgia.

Now if they brought back a fighter prestige class that automatically got a keep and followers at a certain level, that might be kind of fun. :)
