FYI: AEG Postpones Swashbuckling Adventures/7th Sea RPG Line

7th Sea is one of the best campaign settings that I have ever come across. The roll&keep system is very straight forward and easy to use. The setting is a world rich in detail with secret societies, intelligent villains and plenty of scope for adventure - whether it is courtly intrigue or piracy on the high seas.

Translating the campaign in to the d20 system did not work in my opinion, but that's simply because I do not believe that d20 is suitable for every setting.

I'll miss the setting and hope that it will continue in one form or another.

It's as shame for 7th Sea fans, but if sales aren't there, what can you do? But if the way they handle the Spycraft/SFA websites are any indication, I wouldn't expect them to keep their promises about keeping it going via web updates.

Swashbuckling Adventures...

I guess it was an example of, "This is the sorta thing I like, and yet I don't like this."

Too many bases classes. No magic in the core book. Very weak advice on genre emulation.

I had issues with both the setting and the d20 rules. And the business model, too --- too many skinny overpriced supplements.

This is a sad day. I have bought every 7th sea thing I could find since Swashbuckling adventures came out.

I wonder if they are putting all of their cards into Accordlands. I hope it works out for them.

I will miss buying thier products, as the 7th sea line was top notch.

At this rate, I really have no AEG products on my list anymore.

I enjoyed some aspects of the d20 game. I think that the only thing they could do now would be to do a 3.5 version of the core book that clarified and errated all of the material into one general rule book. Drop the setting, provide detailed information and examples of running a Swashbuckling campaign and note which feats/abilities are appropriate for a standard game as opposed to a Swashbuckling one.

I enjoyed both versions of Theah, the R&K and the D20, but I must admit I prefered the original R&K format and covers. (And I though the system worked fine for the setting as well.)

The GM book for the R&K system was one of the best books on running the campaign world I have ever encountered.

I will miss it a great deal.

The line might be "dead" as a paper entity, but it still has some life left in it don't give up all hope.
