Where did this come from? Is it confirmed anywhere?

Oh, I'm just guessing really. They haven't announced anything past Unknown Regions and it's coming out in couple of months. If they were planning on making more splatbooks, I'd imagine they'd tell about it. There's similar speculation over on WotC forums. I'm hoping they will stop now, or go to something like one book in 6 months so they have good time to come up with something interesting for each book.

The question is this: What, realistically, can they put out that will excite folks the way the first few books did? I'm hard pressed to think of anything I want that they haven't already done.

Seeing as we are 12-18 months away from BioWare's Star Wars: The Old Republic MMO going online, this would seem a particularly poor time to quit the Star Wars line.

That said, it's Hasbro. All things are possible, and when it comes to cancelling Star Wars, maybe ecen probable.

As for what more they can do? Gee. Starships and KotoR are sold out. Might be a hint that there is some interest in those two particular themes and going back to those wells would be worthwhile?

The two things I would have expected are an Alien Anthology and an Arms & Equipment Guide. However, these may be redundant with all the species and equipment already scattered around the various books.

They also haven't done dedicated books covering the galaxy, but again these may be redundant with the information in the various "Era" books. (Plus, if they stick with the format they've been using throughout the Saga Edition line, they'd be better off not bothering. Not a fan.)

I guess there are also a couple of Era books they still haven't done: The New Republic Era, the New Jedi Order, and the era from the "Legacy of the Force" novel series.

Vehicles? Spacestations? Adventures? "The Definitive Guide to Mandalorians"?

Still, it's fair enough - if they have run out of good material, then they'd be better off ending the line.

Largely covered, actually. Respectively:
loosely covered by Jedi Academy Training Manual, Jedi Academy Training Manual, Legacy Era Campaign Guide, Starships of the Galaxy, Starships of the Galazy, would be a cool book, Knights of the Old Republic Campaign Guide / would be awesome or horrible depending upon how well they did it.

So, two book ideas. One of which is partially covered by the KOTOR book.

I'd say they really are about out of material.

There's a virtual smorgasbord of material let to work on ... how about expanding the Era books that are out? More stats for NPCs from the Expanded Universe, tons of ships, more species, enough equipment for a few Arms & Equipment Guides, info for some of the novels (like a Corporate Sector book, Jedi Academy, etc.)

Well, it's official. The Unknown Regions will be the last Star Wars RPG book WotC puts out. It's not just the end of Saga Edition. It's the end of WotC Star Wars all together - they've chosen not to renew their license.

As for Galaxy of Intrigue, I've read through the whole thing. I really liked it. It's a lot better than the Scavenger's Guide To Droids, which appeared to get next to no quality control or editing. It's actually made me really want to start GMing a SWSE game. I'll be starting off with DoD, but I'm going to attempt to convert/insert some skill challenges into it.

Also, the skill challenges for SWSE are a new and improved version of 4e's mechanics. The chapter is chock-full of advice and tips and examples. It's also got a new concept in the Challenge Effects section. Those are all very cool.

If you haven't bought the book and you'd like a more comprehensive preview, go check out the thread I made on the WotC forums: Galaxy of Intrigue Preview Thread

I think this is a wise move on WOTC's part. Quit while you're ahead and leave us with a good solid game we can play.
