[game console] Advice sought

(seriously) Atari Anthology. ('cuz who doesn't want to play Atari's Adventure in High-Def...?).

Holy cow that square looks good!  I'm guessing it wasn't too hard to turn so few pixels into a high def output? (Just random thoughts no need to get off tangent.)

Any ideas which ones do 1080i? I haven't found one yet, but I have found 3 that do 720p.
Atari Anthology
Dragon's Lair 3D
Enter the Matrix
MX Unleashed
Syberia

Xbox Live had better be a thing of beauty, as you have to pay a (annual) chunk of change to subscribe on top of your broadband fees (as well as additional fees for that downloadable content).
It is, in fact, a thing of beauty. It' $50 a year (so $4.17 / month is not a lot to pay) and if you don't have broadband already, well you need to re-evaluate your priorities :)

As to be expected, the best online is still the PC (free and reasonably elegant).
You really need to have broadband for PC gaming online too.

Unlike WizarDru, my recommendation is that if you're interested in online gaming, consoles are not where it's at.
I've been a big PC gamer for a long time (I've got a kick-a$$ gaming rig and most of the latest games), and I used to agree with this...until I played Halo 2 on XBox live.

The online features are amazing! Clans, game parties with friends, voicemail, ranking system, stats tracking, and you can even go online after your games and look at an overhead map of you game to see everywhere you were killed (by whom and with what weapon), where the flag was stolen, etc. Game companies are going to be playing catch-up for a while.

If you haven't tried Halo 2 on XBox Live, find a friend with it and give it a try.

From the review I just read it has quite a bit of video, which one would assum was the point of that.

I don't know why any adult with normal-sized hands would have any problems with the original Xbox controller, which is my favorite of the 4 (Xbox original, Xbox controller S, GameCube, PS2) by far. The others are somewhat less comfortable for long duration-gaming.

It is by far one of the worst designed controllers I've ever used, only the DC pads come close. The button layout is just plain atrocious, something the newer ones didn't address.

Who doesn't have broadband, nowadays? But that's not my point - I was just pointing out the cost of a subscription service compared to "free". Getting it just for one game (Halo 2 being the one bandied about, the rest of the games really having no where near the features of Halo 2) may fail a cost/benefit analysis for a lot of people. That's all I'm saying.

Again, not my point.
