GAME OF THRONES #7:The Bear and the Maiden Fair ACT 36 Chapter 3-2013

It was an okay episode, though a few things bugged me.

Arya seemed to regress a bit to being a brat. Her character growth from seasons 1 & 2 seems to have stunted.

Theon/Ramsey: Ramsey did all that work to set up Theon's original "escape" to toy with him but now just seems to be halfassing it without any real creativity or patience.

The Worg trying to stir trouble because he likes Ygrid seems kind of pointless. They could have spent less screen time on that, if at all.

They are trying to do some pacing, I guess. The relationship between Jon and Ygritte isn't terribly fleshed out in the books, so what's going on between Jon, Ygritte and Orell is just filler. They are trying to stretch out the episodes so that they can split book 3 into two seasons.

I don't entirely disagree with you regarding Arya. Keep in mind that she's still a young girl, though, so some brattiness is certainly warranted. In later books, she's still a bit of a brat, but she is maturing quickly.

I agree with you 100% regarding Theon. Though, I suppose that some of the things that Ramsey does to Theon can't necessarily be shown effectively using a visual media. Some of it was a bit too graphic (skinning multiple fingers and toes, etc.)

I think that the next two episodes will pick up the pace considerably.

I have been reading David J. Peterson's (the guy who created the languages) episode commentaries over on his site: http://www.dothraki.com/

For this episode he mentions that the letter Talisa is writing is in Valyrian, but says he'll only put up the full text after the season is over because of 'fan creativity'. I wonder if he is referring to the [sblock]Lannister honeypot theory of Talisa being a setup by Tywin to get Robb's child and then get Robb killed[/sblock].

I hope the Theon story either picks up the pace or gets pushed to the background - it's been weeks of torture/more torture/more torture... it's sort of a waste of air time. If it's supposed to be flashbacks, I would have prefered it in some dialogue or monologue or something in the future.

My guess is that since they had Alfie Allen on the cast and everyone thought he'd been doing good work with the material handed to him that it would be good to keep him in the show instead of waiting until season 5 (ish) to bring him back, because otherwise there would be this chunk of time missing from his story that they'd need to devote time for to explain what happened. Easier to do it this way around.

Sort of like all that "What happened to Mr. Garibaldi?" stuff on Babylon 5. That plotline was a mess.

I actually subscribe to this theory, as it does mirror the Jayne Westerling plot point of the books, though if true, Talisa is rather convincing in the role.

I'm not sure if it's her (Jeyne) or her mother. I thought I read that her mother was secretly giving her moon tea to prevent pregnancy?
