Game of Thrones Episode 1

Wasn't quite sure which thread to discuss the first episode.. hope it's fine that I start a new one.

Wow what a great first episode. It's been a while since I've read the book, but I was utterly drawn in. I wonder about those folks who aren't familiar with the series and their reactions. It's certainly not PG fantasy anymore!

If anyone wants to make the trip to Portland Oregon I will personally host a viewing complete with all the tap water you can drink and a folding chair. This isn't something a fan should have to wait a year for.

*Disclaimer*
I reserve the right to make anyone who shows up at my door watch me enjoy A Game of Thrones through the outside window looking into my media room (complete with tap water and a folding chair as promised).

I have to admit, I've never gotten around to reading the books (not for lack interest, lack of funds.), but I am a huge fan of the world and setting. I love the fact that you actually feel like everyone has something to hide or is is not what they (quite) appear to be, except Bran...and we see where that got him.

All in all, even as a set-up for things to come (i.e. this was just a framing episode) this was pretty solid. So far, no outrageous wire-fu or dramatic license which seems to be the "in vogue" thing to do here of late. (300, Clash of the Titans, Merlin, , etc.)
