That is Visual Basic.

For I am a magician. A wizard whose wand is his keyboard, his spells electrons slaved to his will through arcane languages. That magician, my friend, is a programmer.

For d20 Modern: A man driving home from work late one night accidentaly hits a woman walking on the side of the road. Terrified, he flees the scene of the accident, not knowing that she was still savable at the time. Hours later she succumbs to her wounds and dies, cursing her murderer. She returns as a ghost and haunts that spot, which he passes by each night after work.

The man has seen her and is drawn to her. He starts to see her in his dreams, and in other places along that road. Anyone else in the car with him sees nothing. She is gradually enticing him, drawing off his life a little bit with each encounter. If nothing is done, finally he will stop and she will get in the car. She'll kiss him, draw out the last of his breath and he'll die in a horrible accident, burning slowly to death as she watches, smiling.

I'm not chiming in with another song piece here, but just to point out that, Lazarus - that last hook of yours was masterful. Wow. :)

[blush] Thanks.

OK, now to take a stab at Closer to Fine:

A bard sings to the PCs, weaving a tale about life and all its facets, but also weaving a complex riddle into the lyrics--a riddle which one or perhaps more of the PCs feel compelled to pursue the answer to.* Even after the suggestion wears off, the interest in the riddle persists. After questing to speak with sages and oracles, and even speaking to those of less stature in bars across the land as they travel, they find each person has a different answer to the riddle. When they finally encounter the bard again, he laughs and tells them that there is no true answer to the riddle--only the answers life will give each of them.

*(Bard's fascinate/suggestion ability, Will save DC 18)

Gaming notes:

Talk about RP-intensive :) A possible reward for the PCs would be to be affected as if having read a Tome of Understanding +1 (inherent +1 bonus to Wis).

OK, that was a *really* tough song. Next up: Toad the Wet Sprocket: Fly from Heaven
