Game strores near Lancaster PA?

I live in York (well, a little town outside of York), and there are two comic stores in close proximity to each other that each carry plenty of gaming material.

Comic Store West
984 Loucks Road*
York, PA 17404 USA
(717) 845- 9198

This being the store I usually go to. It's pretty much evenly split between miniatures, gaming stuff, and comics. They have tables in the back too, not sure if they're open. Once in a while there's a Magic or Warhammer thing going on back there.

Which town you in, Rist?

Hey guys in lancaster...

I've posted a few times to the gamers seeking gamers board, with no results...so I figured I'd catch you in a thread you're likely to respond to..

I'm looking for a game...any game really, but more preferrably d20modern. If you guys have open spots in games (i've played D&D for about 13 years) drop me a line in PM or via the contact info above.

Thanks!

On the rare occasion I do go out looking for products, I generally visit the former.

*Loucks Road is more commonly known as (part of) Route 30.

I also live just outside of York and would recommend Comic Store West. They are my main source of gaming material.

We could use one more player in Mechanicsburg

Hi,

We could use one more player in my Return to the Temple of Elemental Evil game.

We play in Mechanicsburg. Its right near the intersection of Rt 15 and the turnpike. We usually play weekly on Saturday evening and sometimes on Friday evening.

See my profile and send me an email if your interested.

Not a bad shop, but a good travel from where you're at. If you happen to be IN harrisburg, it's a great store to drop in at. People are friendly, good selection of books. Some room to play in store, but most of their games are minis (heroclix, warhammer, etc, etc). I have never seen any d20 gaming group playing in there.

I'll throw my vote their way as well. Here's their webpage.

hammer,

how's gaming in lebanon? any open slots that you know of?

I'm really itching to jump into modern, but still play old fashioned D&D on occasion...

Maybe i'd be willing to DM, but would need a place to play.

I'm going to have to give a thumbs down to The Adventurer's Guild. I recently discovered the place and made a pilgrimage to there. I can't say I was overly impressed with the amount of material they had. Not bad, mind you, but the thing that really put me out was the help. Perhaps I caught them on a bad day, but I was barely spoken to. Just didn't feel welcome. YMMV of course.

What I will heartily reccommend is Pastimes in Palmyra. This place is just charming and I've been giving them a good chunk of my business over the last few years. It might take 50 min. to get here but it's a very laid back, no pressure atmosphere with plenty of stuff to choose from (no matter your RPG). I also got a great bundle of older material for my collection. Regrettably, the old stuff seems to have dried up for the moment, but that can change at any time. I'm usually there once every two weeks to feed my craving for more stuff. :D

As for the Comic Store on MCGovern Ave. in Lancaster...well, this isn't bad. The place is pretty much a mess but the selection is OK. Like the AdvGuild, I don't feel much at home when I browse (which isn't often).

Should anyone find themselves east of the Lebanon/Lancaster area, there are quite a number of stores worth checking out. Here's two examples...

Doylestown: A place called Cyborg One has a good selection of d20 books and relaxed shopping atmosphere.

Bryn Mawr: Showcase Comics. I think I like this place almost as much as Pastimes. The selection here is among the best I can find.

Both of the above locations are in neat little towns to and are worth a day trip. I actually have a rotation schedule where I check on the shops once every 3-4 weeks or so.

Don't know when the last time you were at Pastimes was, but recently (as of about a month or two ago) they had plenty of older material.

All the old Class handbooks for 2e, and even a bunch of PHB/DMG stuff from 1e.

They are the best for 'all around' RPG selection. You can't beat all the different games that they cover, but for d20 they're strictly WotC from what I've seen.

Of course, I was at all 3 I mentioned and I couldn't find deadlands d20 stuff...

At least Adventurer's Guild had some Iron Kingoms stuff...

Sorry, jezter. I was thinking about stuff I don't already own. And the last time I visited Pastimes was this past Saturday. :D

Just because you own nearly everything doesn't make the selection scarse for the rest of us, LOL.

How often do you get down this way...and how do you get there?

If you come down by 22 and make the left in grantville (gravel hill road), I'm only like a mile from there.

Maybe I could stop in the store one time you're down and have a mini-enworld gathering...of 2... :)

Anyone else 'nearby' the greater Lebanon/Lancaster/Dauphin county that would be interested in getting together one weekend for a day of gaming? I'm sure we could get Pastimes or the Guild to sponsor something for us.
